若 vs. 如果
ruò vs. rúguǒ

若 is more literary and is basically used in the same way as 如果.

(1) 若（如果）没有什么别的事情，那么这次会议就到此结束吧。
(2) 你若（如果）不听我的劝告，迟早会遇到麻烦的。
(3) 他若（如果）知道了这件事，肯定会很高兴。

In all the three examples above, the two words are interchangeable. In addition, with four-character set phrases 若 is used and not 如果, e.g. 人若犯我，我必犯人。

若 is also an adverb, meaning “to seem.”

(4) 在他的眼里，她美若天仙。

“若”的书面色彩较浓，用法与“如果”等基本一样。
以上三句两词可互换。另外，在四字语中常用“若”而不用“如果”，如“人若犯我，我必犯人”。
“若”也可以是副词，表示好像。
