The Story:
In the Jin Dynasty (AD 265-420), General Du Yu led his army to attack the State of Wu. Along the route, he won battle after battle. At one point someone suggested they should rest until the following year, and he replied, "Now the morale of our troops is high. Attacking Wu is like splitting bamboo: once you split open the first few joints, the rest will come easily." His army went on to destroy the State of Wu.
