“i.e.”和“e.g.”都是拉丁字母缩写,经常出现在各种文章中,但他们究竟是什么词的缩写呢 The Latin abbreviations "i.e." and "e.g." come up very frequently in writing and we have all wondered what they actually meant.
i.e.
I'm going to the place where I work best, i.e. , the coffee shop.
“i.e.”是拉丁语“id est”的缩写,意为“即”。“i.e.”可替代“in other words”或“it/that is”这些表达。是要进一步做出说明。 I.e. simply means "that is," which is written out as 'id est' in Latin. "I.e." is used in place of "in other words," or "it/that is." It specifies or makes more clear.
e.g.
At the places where I work the best, e.g. , Starbuck's, I have none of the distractions I have at home.
e.g.”是拉丁语“exempli gratia”的缩写,意为“例如”。不想累述时,就可以使用“e.g.”来举例说明,与“including”意义相似。 E.g. means "for example" and comes from the Latin expression exempli gratia, "for the sake of an example." "E.g." is used in expressions similar to "including" when you are not intending to list everything that is being discussed.
