listen He listened to the teacher. I heard a really funny joke today. “listen”是动词,指有意识地去倾听。 Listen is a verb that means to give attention to someone or something in order to hear them, with some effort.

hear He heard a noise outside. “hear”也是动词,指用耳朵不费力地听到。 Hear is a verb that means to receive or become aware of a sound using your ears, without effort.

但有时我们也用“hear”来指聚精会神的听。 In some circumstances, we use hear when we listen to someone or something attentively.
