《史记·廉颇蔺相如列传》记载:战国时,赵惠文王得到和氏璧,秦昭王表示愿意用十五座城换这块璧(价:价钱;连城:连成一片的多座城池)。后用"价值连城"形容物品特别值钱,十分珍贵。
