A conveyor of frequency
A conveyor of frequency, which denotes the number of times an action takes place, is formed by placing after a verb a numeral and a measure word for action.
(1) 我去过一次。
(2) 他问过两次，都没有得到答案。
"一下儿" yíxiàr as a conveyor of frequency and denotes not only the frequency of an action, but also the shortness in the duration of that action. Moreover, it usually carries a casual undertone.
(1) 给你看一下儿。
(2) 他让你过去一下儿。
