代办 and 代理
dàibàn and dàilǐ
代办 sometimes is a noun and means “chargé d'affaires”, such as 临时代办 línshídàibàn.
代理 is a verb, which can be used with a noun to form an official title, e.g. 代理部长 dàilǐ bùzhǎng, 代理处长 dàilǐ chùzhǎng.
Both 代办(v)and 代理(v) mean “to do something for somebody else”, e.g.代办托运dàibàn tuōyùn (consign),代办邮购dàibàn yóugòu (undertake commission for a mail-order).
(1) 我不在的时候，一切事情都交由你代办。
(2) 你身体不好，这个项目就交给我代办吧。
代理 is to do something officially for somebody else: that is, to be authorized to act for somebody else, such as in lawsuits, tax payment, commerce, etc.:
(3) 这家公司宣告破产之后，一切事宜由那个律师事务所代理。
Moreover, the object of 代办 is business or work, while the object of 代理 can also be the post or position.
(4) 他委托我代办图书邮购的手续。
“代办”有时是名词，有其特定含义：一个国家以外交部长名义派另外一国的外事代表官员；或指派驻他国的使馆中，当大使、公使不在职时，在外事官员中临时委任的负责人员（叫“临时代办”。）
“代理”是动词，并可与名词构成表示一定职务的词组，如：“代理部长”、“代理处长”。
“代办（动）”和“代理（动）”都有替别人做事的意思。“代办”除了较特殊的“邮政代办所”以外，一般指替别人做较具体的事情，如“代办托运”、“代办邮购”。
“代理”则一般表示替别人做较正式的事，是指受当事人委托或授权，代表当事人正式活动，如诉讼、税务、贸易等。
另外，“代办”的宾语是事务，“代理”的宾语还可以是职务。
