Prepositions as a conveyor of gists

A preposition is used before an object, noun, pronoun or a phrase, to form a phrase that describes a place, position, direction, method, time, object, aim, or the passive voice. Prepositional phrases can be used as adverbial adjuncts, objects, attributives or compliments. “按” àn, “按照” ànzhào, “依” , “依照” yīzhào, “照” zhào, “据” , “根据” gēnjù, “以” , “凭” píng, “论” lùn are prepositions that convey the gists of an idea, and should precede the idea in question.
(1) 按照地图上显示的路线,我们顺利找到了目的地。
