听见 and 听说 tīngjiàn and tīngshuō
1. 听见is a verb-complement phrase, which can be modified to include other elements. For instance, we can say 听得见 or 听不见. (1) 我听见客厅有脚步声。 (2) ——你听得见他说话吗? ——听不见。 (3) 他耳朵不好,像那种很小的声音他一般都听不见。 In the three sentences above, 听说 cannot be used.
2. “听说”is also a verb-complement phrase, meaning “to be told by someone”. We can say 听别人说. (1) 听说他们班主任被学校开除了。 (2) ——你听说了吗?猪肉价格又要上涨了。 ——嗯,听说了。 (3) 我听人说你最近又闯祸了,是真的吗? (4) 听说而已,不一定可靠。 In the four sentences above, 听见 cannot be used.
The following two sentences have the same meaning, but use different words and structures. (5) 他听见一些消息,这段时间有一个公司正在招人。 (6) 他听说这段时间有一个公司正在招人。
1. “听见”是动补结构,表示耳朵接收到声音。可以拆开(“听得见”、“听不见”)。 以上三句,不能用“听说”。 2. “听说”也是动补结构,意思是听见别人说,也就是别人告诉自己,可以说“听人说”。 以上四句不能用“听见”。 下面的例子,意思一样,但分别用两个词时,语法要求不同。
