爱好 vs. 喜欢

1. 爱好(v.) means "to be well disposed towards" or "to love participate". It is very similar to 喜欢 but more formal; both can be applied to concrete things:
(1) 她爱好（喜欢）跳舞。
(2) 他特别爱好（喜欢）甜食。

爱好(v.) can also be applied to abstract things, especially those of great importance such as peace or justice. 喜欢 cannot be used with these words, but can be used in 爱好科学, etc.
爱好(v.) can never be applied to human beings, which is different from 喜欢.

2. 爱好(n.) sometimes means "a great interest in something", but 喜欢 never has such a meaning:
(1)他的业余爱好是下棋。
(2) 这只是我个人的爱好，和职业无关。

1.“爱好”（动）表示对事物有好感，乐于参与，和“喜欢”有共同点，但比“喜欢”更加书面化。可用于具体事物。
“爱好”（动）还可以用于抽象事物，特别是有重大意义的，如“爱好和平”、“爱好正义”等，“喜欢”则不可以这样用。“爱好科学”等则可用“喜欢”代替。
“爱好”（动）不能用于人，这是与“喜欢”不相同的。
2.“爱好”（名）表示对某事物的浓厚兴趣，而“喜欢”没有这个用法。
