坚定 vs. 坚决 jiāndìng vs. jiānjué
Both words mean “subjectively unwavering, staunch.” 坚定 is applied to serious matters, such as a political line, standpoint, viewpoint, will, etc. (1) 这支球队带着夺冠的坚定信念,一路杀进了总决赛。 (2) 这个试验结果更加坚定了他的推断。 (3) 他立场不够坚定,最终向敌人屈服了。
坚决 stresses one’s actual attitude. (4) 我坚决不同意这种观点。 (5) 该市纪委决定坚决查处这类违法乱纪案件。
这两个词都表示主观上不动摇、不犹豫。“坚定”侧重于大的方面,如政治路线、立场、观点、意志等。 “坚决”则侧重于具体的态度。
