失去 and 遗失 shīqù and yíshī
失去 is mostly applied to abstract things; 遗失 is mostly applied to concrete things. (1) 他失去了她的信任。 (2) 这次试验的失败使他失去了信心。 (3) 哪位同学在图书馆遗失手机一部? (4) 他把钱包遗失在商场里了。
遗失 is somewhat literal and can be used in formal writing.
“失去”多用于抽象事物,而“遗失”多用于具体事物。 “遗失”略书面化,所以更多的用于正式场合。
