世界性的综合运动会，每四年举行一次。起源于古希腊在奥林匹亚城举办的竞技运动，1894年国际体育大会决定把世界性的综合竞技体育运动会叫做奥林匹克运动会。现代第一届奥林匹克运动会于1896年在希腊雅典举行。简称奥运会、奥运。
