Prepositions as a conveyor of gists

A preposition is used before an object, noun, pronoun or a phrase, to form a phrase that describes a place, position, direction, method, time, object, aim, or the passive voice. Prepositional phrases can be used as adverbial adjuncts, objects, attributives or compliments. “按” àn, “按照” ànzhào, “依” yī, “依照” yīzhào, “照” zhào, “据” jù, “根据” gēnjù, “以” yǐ, “凭” píng, “论” lùn are prepositions that convey the gists of an idea, and should precede the idea in question.
