掩盖 and 遮盖
yǎngài and zhēgài
1. Both 掩盖 and 遮盖 are verbs. When used with concrete things, they both mean “to cover up.”
(1) 厚厚的落叶把这条小路掩盖（遮盖）了起来。
(2) 春天来了，新长出的嫩草遮盖（掩盖了）原本裸露的山体。
2. When 掩盖 and 遮盖 are used with abstract things, they mean “to hide, to conceal.”
(1) 铺天盖地的流言几乎要把真相掩盖（遮盖）。
(2) 侵略者的罪行是没有办法被掩盖（遮盖）的。
When applied to very concrete things, 遮盖 is used.
(3) 挖好陷阱后，应该找一块和周边环境相似的东西把洞口遮盖起来。
1.“掩盖”和“遮盖”都是动词，当它们与较具体的事物合用的时候，意思是盖住物体，不让它显露的意思。
2.“掩盖”和“遮盖”与抽象事物合用时，是“隐藏”或“隐瞒”的意思。当用于非常具体的事物时，多用“遮盖”。
