搬 vs. 抬
bān vs. tái
Both 搬 and 抬 are verbs meaning "to move something that is rather big and heavy". 搬 is applied to one person using their hands to move something. 抬 is applied to two or more people moving something with their hands or shoulders and when moving, the thing is rather high above the ground.
(1) 他从房间把桌子搬到了客厅。
(2) 我和他一起把电脑搬回来的。
(3) 救护人员抬着担架来了。
(4) 你来帮我抬一下这个柜子吧？
抬 can also mean " to raise one's head, hand, or foot ".
(1) 请你把头抬起来。
(2) 他抬手示意我们可以走了。
“搬”、“抬”这两个动词都表示移动物体，物体多是较大或较重的。“搬”可用于一个人或几个人用手移动物体，“抬”多指两个人或两个以上的人移动物体，而且可以用手或肩膀，物体离地的高度也较大。“抬”还可表示手、脚头等高举。
