本人 and 本身
běnrén and běnshēn
Both 本人 and 本身 have the meaning of stressing oneself.
1. 本人, with a reference of oneself indicates human being. When used by itself, it is very formal, but may also be used humorously.
(1) 本人就是这个队的队长。
(2) 这事不归我管，本人概不负责。
本人 is often used to refer to the above mentioned oneself or someone else, such as 我本人(myself), 他本人 (himself), etc.
(3) 你还是当面问他本人吧。
2. 本身 is not limited to a person, but stressing the person himself or the thing itself. It is mainly used to refer to the thing or persons mentioned previously, sometimes indicating a contrast.
(1) 这台电脑本身没有问题，问题出在操作上。
(2) 这个理论本身就有很大的局限性。
(3) 这件礼物对我而言的价值早已超过了礼物本身。
“本人”、“本身”都有强调自身的意思。
1.本人 指人，可以单用，表示自指，意思较郑重，但也可以较诙谐。
“本人”还常用于复指前面提到的自己或他人，常说“我本人”、“他本人”等。
2.“本身”不限于指人，强调人或事物自身，多复指上文提到的事物或人；有时含有前后文对比的意味。
