Prepositions as a conveyor of gists
A preposition is used before an object, noun, pronoun or a phrase, to form a phrase that describes a place, position, direction, method, time, object, aim, or the passive voice. Prepositional phrases can be used as adverbial adjuncts, objects, attributives or compliments. “按” àn, “按照” ànzhào, “依” yī, “依照” yīzhào, “照” zhào, “据” jù, “根据” gēnjù, “以” yǐ, “凭” píng, “论” lùn are prepositions that convey the gists of an idea, and should precede the idea in question. (1) 按照地图上显示的路线,我们顺利找到了目的地。 (2) 按我的猜测,他应该刚走不久。 (4) 依这里的规定,你们不能进去。 (5) 依照笔迹,我认为这封信是他写的。 (6) 照这个速度走下去,我们肯定要迟到。 (7) 根据有关法律,他被有关部门拘留了。 (8) 据他的回忆,当时的情况并非如此。 (9) 你不能总是以老眼光来看待问题。 (10) 判断是非的时候不能光凭主观意识。 (11) 论实力,你排第一。
