矛和盾。《韩非子·难一》中说：楚国有一个卖矛和盾的人夸口说，我的盾是最坚硬的，什么东西也戳不破；又说，我的矛是最锐利的，什么东西都能刺进去。有人问，用你的矛刺你的盾怎么样？那个人不能回答。后用"矛盾"比喻言论或行为自相冲突或两种事物彼此抵触，互不相容。
