安定 and 稳定

1. 安定 (adj.) means "to be normal and peaceful (mood, life, society, order, etc.)"
(1) 社会的安定需要大家共同来维护。
(2) 他希望自己有一天能过上安定的日子。
(3) 吃了点药，他终于安定下来了。
(4) 无论什么社会，总存在着一些不安定的因素。

安定 (v.) means " to make something normal and peaceful " and usually needs an object:
(5) 他的讲话安定了大家的情绪。
(6) 干部们做了大量的思想工作来安定人心。

2. 稳定 is similar to 安定. In the above examples, 1-4 can be replaced with 稳定, but 安定 stresses the inner condition, while 稳定 stresses the outward expression. Besides, 稳定 (adj.) also means the stability of water level, value, price, illness, curative effect, etc.:
(1) 这个季节的水位比较稳定。
(2) 这个季度的物价都比较稳定。
(3) 他已经脱离了危险期，现在病情很稳定。

安定 cannot be used in such ways.

稳定 (v.) means "to be stable " or" to stabilize " and can have an object.
(4) 国家采取了一些办法来稳定物价。
(5) 我们要稳定教师队伍。

1.“安定”（形）表示情绪、生活、社会、秩序等正常、平静。
“安定”（动）表示使安定，可带宾语。
2.“稳定”（动）也可以表示情绪、生活、社会、秩序等正常平静，与“安定”相似，以上“安定”的例句都可以和“稳定”互换。不同的是，“安定”侧重于内心的，内部的，而“稳定”更倾向于外部表现。另外，“稳定”（形）还表示水位、价值、物价、病情、疗效等的平衡。
“安定”则没有这些用法。
