笨 and 蠢

笨 and 蠢
bèn and chǔn

Both 笨 and 蠢 are adjectives meaning "not clever." The two words are usually interchangeable.
(1) 你真笨（蠢），这么简单的题都不会做。
(2) 这家伙太笨（蠢）了。

笨 can also mean "not dexterous" e.g. 笨办法, 嘴笨, 笨重, 笨手笨脚.

(1) 你笨手笨脚的，就不要给我们帮忙了。
(2) 我嘴笨，不知道该怎么说。
(3) 这台机器十分笨重。
(4) 这个本法虽然很笨，但是比较保险。

“笨”和“蠢”都是形容词，表示不聪明，两个词一般可以换用。
笨也可以表示不灵巧，费力。比如说“笨手笨脚”、“嘴笨”、“笨办法”、“笨重”等等，而不能用“蠢”。
