连续 vs. 继续
liánxù vs. jìxù
Both words can mean “ceaselessly,” but they are of different parts of speech.
1. 连续 is an adverb, meaning "continuously," "one after the other."
(1) 他已经连续熬夜好几天了。
(2) 他连续两次在乒乓球赛中夺冠。
(3) 连续批阅了好几十份文件，他感到有点累了。
2. 继续 is a verb, meaning “something (an action, etc.) does not stop, but keeps on going.”
(1) 他点了根烟，继续写文章。
(2) 已经下了一天的雨了，明天还会继续下吗？
两个词都有连接不断的意思。但词性不同。
1. “连续”是副词，表示接连不断，一个接一个地。
2. “继续”是动词，表示活动不停止，延续下去。
