著名 vs. 有名
zhùmíng vs. yǒumíng
Both words are adjectives indicating that the name is known by a lot of people. Both can function as attributive and predicate. 有名 is colloquial and can be an adverbial, it can also be used in a derogatory sense.
(1) 李白是中国古代著名（有名）的浪漫主义诗人。
(2) 这一带的风景是著名（有名）。
(3) 这就是有名（著名）的北京烤鸭。
(4) 他是当地有名的无赖。
Example (4) is derogatory and very colloquial, therefore 著名 cannot be used.
两个形容词都表示又名生活名字为很多人知道，一般做定语和谓语。“有名”用于口语，并且可作状语，有时可含贬义。
例(4) 含贬义，而且很口语化，所以不能用“著名”替代。
