Paired conjunctions as conveyors of supposition

A conjunction is a word or expression that acts as a transition between clauses and phrases in a complex sentence. For example: "不但……而且……" búdàn...érqiě... (not only … but also …), "如果……就……" rúguǒ...jiù... (if… then…), and "总而言之" zǒng'éryánzhī (all in all), where the first clause or phrase is connected to the following clause or phrase by a conjunction.

In a suppositional sentence, the supposition is often introduced by adding “如果”, “假如” and “要是” before the supposition; the adverbs “就” and “那么”, which link the clause that follows it to the one that precedes it, are also used to elicit a conclusion.

(1) 如果明天不下雨，我们就去钓鱼。
(2) 要是明天下雨，我们就不去钓鱼。
(3) 假如你没有听到那句话，那么你就不会那么难过了。
(4) 如果你真的可以，那么请证明给我看。
