厌恶 and 讨厌 yànwù and tǎoyàn
Both 厌恶 and 讨厌 are verbs meaning “to dislike, to loathe.”
1. 厌恶 means “to disgust, to detest, even hate,” and is mostly used in literature. (1) 他的举止令人厌恶。 (2) 他很厌恶那种趋炎附势的人。
2. 讨厌 is less serious and mainly means “to dislike and be disturbed.” (1) 我讨厌看这种无聊的电视节目。 (2) 我又把钥匙弄丢了,真讨厌! (3) 我们都很讨厌吃青椒。
“厌恶”和“讨厌”都是动词。都是不喜欢,让人心烦的意思。 1.“厌恶”有对人对事不喜欢、很反感的意思,可达到憎恨的程度,且多用于书面。 2.“讨厌”反感的语气较轻,主要表示不喜欢和令人心烦。
