Do not cling to the past 请君莫奏前朝曲 qǐngjūnmòzòuqiáncháoqǔ
The Story: Liu Yuxi shared the same political beliefs with innovators such as Wang Shuwen and Liu Zongyuan. His poem writes, "Beyond the Great Wall, the Qiang play the song of Meihua with their bamboo flutes. In the south, people enjoy their folk songs. Please don't sing the song of the late dynasty, but listen to the new form of Yangliuzhi." In this poem Meihua refers to a type of melody. The poem basically asks the readers to not revert to the past songs but to listen to his new song, and further mocks people who are conservative and don't want to part from the past.
