遇到, 遇见 and 碰见
yùdào, yùjiàn and pèngjiàn
All three are verb-complement phrases meaning “to come across a person or thing by chance.” Of the three, 碰见is the most casual.
(1) 我在电梯里遇到（遇见/碰见）了她。
(2) 你以后遇见（碰见/遇到）这种事，要学机灵点。
If the object is 机会，机遇，危险，风险，挑战，运气，etc., then 遇到 is the best choice. However, sometimes the other two will also do.
(3) 遇到困难的时候，你应该有面对困难的勇气。
(4) 他们的船在海上遇到了危险。
这三个短语都是动补式，表示偶然与某人相逢或偶然遭遇某事物。“碰见”更为口语化。
宾语可以是“机会”、“机遇”、“危险”、“风险”、“挑战”、“运气”等等，“遇到”的搭配能力较强。另外两个词有时候也可以这样搭配。
