询问 vs. 问
xúnwèn vs. wèn
1. Both 询问 and 问 are verbs meaning “ to solicit opinions or to ask about”. 询问 is used in literary works while 问 is more casual.
(1) 老师打电话来询问（问）你的近况。
(2) 市长深入基层视察，并询问（问）了一下村民们的生活状况。
(3) 他就这个问题专门询问（问）了专家。
2. 问 also means “ to raise a question, to express one’s solicitude, to interrogate, to internee, etc.”, so 询问 cannot used here.
(1) 我问他为什么不接我电话。
(2) 替我问候一下你的家人。
(3) 十年以前他就在此地隐居，从此不问世事。
1.“询问”和“问”都是动词。有征求一件和打听的意思。“询问”多用于书面语，而“问”多用于口语。
2.“问”还有提出问题请解答，以及安慰、审讯、干预等意思，这时不能与“询问”互换。
